Accommodates Arc fault and GFCI breakers to meet current code requirements. The enclosure can be surface or flush* mounted indoors next to an existing electrical panel in a basement, interior room or garage. Ideal for powering your furnace blower (gas or oil only), refrigerator and kitchen circuits, well pump, water heater, lights, security system, garage door opener and television. If your needs change and later you choose to power more, your installer can easily expand the transfer switch by just adding more circuit breakers. Select-circuit transfer switches allow you to choose 6 to 16 select household circuits to power during an outage. Our 1000+ suppliers allow us to stock not only an expansive range of automotive parts but also workshop equipment and accessories to our regular and growing. A homeowner can safely run selected appliances such as a furnace, well pump, sump pump, refrigerator, television or lighting during a power outage. Choose from our selection of waterproof switches, including wet-location pendant switches, wet-location toggle switches, and more. The spring -loaded design absorbs impact to protect sensors and switches from damage. By installing a transfer switch at the electrical panel, you eliminate the possibility of dangerous back feeds or electric overloads. Impact-Resistant Sensor andSwitch Mounting Brackets. Instead, connect your portable generator to a permanently installed Generac manual transfer switch. if your wires enter the side of the panel, you will probably need to remove a good portion of the adjacent stud (which may not be practical).During a power outage, skip the hassle of running multiple extension cords from your generator to your appliances. You can (if it fits) mount your genrtan switch immediately to the left of the panel. That's my preference, but it is more work. If you are going to do that, you can just buy a small panel, separate manaul transfer switch, generator inlet box and mount it wherever allowed. You may be able to extend it with conduit and a J-box, but download the installation manual and talk to your electrician about wire size etc. I'd have to research it further, but I pretty sure you cannot rewire that style transfer switch without affecting its UL cerification. SteveYour existing panel is not a problem. The switch box will require new wire to replace what it comes with, as they are no where near long enough to reach. ![]() There are several holes in the 2X4 already, not sure how much room is left. ![]() This is a lot to do, I am not sure it can be done without major rework of the floor area under the box. The switch box will probably mounted flush to the wall surface (there is a kit for that), with the wiring run down thru the floor to the crawl space, then under the door to below the breaker box, and up and into the box. This tells me that I must mount the switch box on the other side of the door, and install new wire from the switch box to the breaker box, probably in conduit since SWMBO would not let me run the wires on the surface. I can't mount on the surface due to the 30" clear space in front of the panel. I can't mount above the existing panel due to the 69" elevation limit. So far, I think this is where I stand (pending consulting with the electrican): The black line in the upper left that was questioned goes up from slightly under the buss bar, left then down, and is the wire connected to the 4th breaker up from the bottom on the left, the wire with the "kink" in it. This inscludes the inlet breaker and each 220V circuit as 2, one for each hot line. It is rated for 40 circuits max, counting them I get 33 circuits. I took a look at the box again to answer some of the questions.įirst, the box is rated for duplex breakers in all positions.
